The highly intelligent (and quite stunning) Erika Ellis suggests a better version of reflection on change. If we could think & communicate this way to begin with, we'd likely not leave out those voices and people that make our communities much more interesting. Portland Historian, Chet Orloff has played an integral role in the development of Portland, Inc. He has shown us how studying the past is invaluable to understanding the future. He was a huge part of the visionary efforts during the 1972 Downtown Plan and we've been lucky to have him along on this journey from concept to script development and through production. Thanks Chet for your assistance and enthusiasm, this film will indeed be a crowning jewel for our city. #Portlandinc #portlandnw #Portland #pdxavsquad #oregonfilm #ompamember #documentaryfilm #KoernerCamera #canonc300mk2 @dubblebee @portland @marcus.pdx @adventuresofhektor @mandellexperiences @lostnportland @freehandfab @coolgage @linneasbg Music: @boogienite "ONE NATION" A video posted by Portland Inc. #TBT April 2014 when we interviewed #BingSheldon founder of #seraarchitects and President of the #portland planning commission in the 70's. This initial 1/2 hour interview turned into 3 hours as the camera kept rolling and we kept listening to the stories from this renegade representative of the Downtown Plan. What started as a cute reflective series then has transformed into a feature length social impact film about Portland and its current state. Today, City Hall will hear testimony regarding the 2035 plan. Is the recommended plan good enough for Portland? #portlandfilm #socialimpact #downtownplan #portlandinc #support #livability #portlandoregon #cityhall #portlandcityhall #seattle #sanfransisco #detroit #chicago #newyork #neworleans #philadelphia #boston A photo posted by Portland Inc. Here's a clip from last weeks interview with Gil Kelley, The Director of the Citywide Planning for San Francisco. "San Franciscans are asking out loud, 'are we losing our soul?' and in many cases, they're asking 'have we lost our soul?' We don't want that to occur in Portland. This is a critical moment to get back ahead of this wave that's coming." Portland inc., at the very least, will showcase how we can all work together as a city during a time that calls for reinvention. Thank you Gil for spending so much time with us during your interview. Tim Williams, Executive Director of the Oregon Governors Office of Film and Television, talks about the power of documentary film. We interviewed Tim about the growing film and media industry in Oregon as a whole. "There is a very vibrant, very collaborative community that's happening here on many, many different levels...suddenly we have a very large storytelling palate: Large network tv shows like Grimm being at one end of the scale, as well as creative advertising and production advertising, as well as series and feature film animation, short form animation, interactive games, virtual reality, education and training--coupled in with that, the programming at the local theaters and how all if it interconnects with each other and the crossing over of talent. It's growing every day." #oregonfilm #documentaryfilm #Portland #portlandnw #urbandesign #Portlandinc #canonc300mk2 #KoernerCamera A video posted by Portland Inc.
